About Me
Hello! I am Zareen and thank you for visiting my website. I set up this site because when people ask me what I do, I basically have to get them something to sit down on, because it can take a while... What can I say? I'm a complicated woman!
Work-wise, my time is divided between my social enterprise, Gift Wellness; Chairing its associated charity, The Gift Wellness Foundation and heading up The Halimah Trust, the charity that was set up in memory of my daughter Halimah. Then come all the spin-offs from these three organisation, such as speaking engagements, lecturing, coaching, mentoring and writing.

Believe it or not, I do have a life away from work too, with my amazing family and friends. I'm passionate about arts and crafts, sewing and cooking - especially for family. As a practicing Muslim, I am deeply spiritual. I believe that everything happens for a reason, there are no coincidences and I love the excitement of meeting like-minded people, when you can't wait to get explore how you will work together.
My PhD is in Multiculturalism. It combined Theology, Sociology and Policy to explore the role of Muslim women in Britain in relation to the government's Prevent agenda. I know, that's heavy. Like I said, complicated woman. I try to stay abreast of the subject, particularly in relation to women's human rights as it informs our period poverty work.

I always follow my gut instinct, and despite the disruptions that the world is experiencing, I feel that 2020 is going to be a game-changing year. For social entrepreneurs like me who want to change the world through kindness, Covid-19 provides countless opportunities. This year started with the launch of a new range of vegan Cleansing Bar products under my brand Gift that include shampoos, conditioners and a wide range of cleansing bars bars for all the family. All in paper boxes with no plastic packaging. My aim is that by 2025 it will be unacceptable and 'un-cool' to have plastic bottles of shampoo and body wash cluttered around your bathroom. Also this year, I plan to publish my book The Gift. My intention is to help readers not only overcome their hardships but to use their negative experiences to fuel something beautiful, positive and life-changing. The book will also compliment and assist the sharing of my experiences and knowledge which I do through speaking and coaching on social enterprise and how to set up a triple-bottom-line business, which focusses on people, planet and profit.
I invite you to join me on this adventure and make my journey even more special with your ideas, energy and passion!
